Privacy Policy — GoDukaan (shopkeeper app)
GoDukaan is an app for shopkeepers to run their shop: stock, billing, the khata (credit ledger), and orders from customers. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.
The app is operated by GoKiraana (“we”). Questions, requests and complaints: support@GoDukaan.in.
What the app collects, and why
Your mobile number. Used to sign you in and to prove that a shop belongs to you. Verified by a one-time SMS code. It is shown to no other shopkeeper, and it is the only thing tying you to your shop, which is why signing in with it is the way to get your shop back on a new phone.
Your shop's details. Its name, address and — only if you tap “Use my current location” — its map coordinates. Coordinates exist so a customer can be told whether your shop delivers to them. The app does not track your phone's location at any other time, and takes no location in the background.
Your stock, bills and khata. Everything you enter: products, prices, sales, payments, and the names and phone numbers of customers you record in the khata. This is stored on your phone first so the app keeps working without internet, and a copy is kept on our servers so that your staff share one inventory and your customers can order from you.
Photos. Product pictures you take or choose. Nothing is captured unless you save it.
Voice notes. Only while you are recording one for a support request. The microphone is not used at any other time.
Payment records. When you buy a monthly plan, we record that a payment was made, for how much, and a reference number. We never see or store your card number, UPI PIN or bank details — the payment is handled entirely inside Razorpay's own checkout. To open that checkout, the app passes Razorpay your mobile number (so you do not have to type it again) and your shop code (so the payment can be matched to your shop).
Basic technical information. Crash reports and the app version, used to fix faults.
About your customers' information
If you record a customer's name or number in the khata, you are entering somebody else's personal information. We store it for you, we do not sell it, we do not share it with other shops, and we do not use it to market anything to them. Please only record what you need in order to run your shop, and tell your customers if they ask.
For that reason, the khata is excluded from Google's cloud backup. It moves to a new phone only when you transfer the phone yourself.
Who else sees this
- Google Firebase — stores your shop's data, signs you in, and sends the app your orders. Google processes it on our behalf under their own terms.
- Razorpay — processes your subscription payment. They receive your payment details directly, plus your mobile number and shop code from the app; we receive only the outcome.
- Your own staff — anybody you add as an employee sees your shop's inventory and can bill from it. You choose who, and you can remove them.
- Your customers — see your shop's name, address, opening hours and the products you have chosen to publish. They never see your costs, your profit, your khata or your other customers.
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics beyond what is listed above.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Used for | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning barcodes and taking product photos | Yes — you can type barcodes instead |
| Location | Placing your shop on the map, once, when you tap the button | Yes — you can type coordinates |
| Microphone | Recording a voice note for a support request | Yes |
| Notifications | Telling you a customer has ordered, and when your plan is ending | Yes |
| Phone state (basic) | Requested by Razorpay's payment checkout, which is built into the app; used only inside that checkout while you pay. The app itself does not use it, and it does not give access to calls, contacts or messages. Granted by Android at install; no prompt is shown | — |
| NFC | Requested by Razorpay's payment checkout; used only inside that checkout. The app itself does not use NFC. Granted by Android at install; no prompt is shown | — |
| Contacts | Not requested. Choosing a khata customer from your address book uses the system picker, which returns only the one contact you tap | — |
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
Your shop's data is kept while your shop is active. You can delete it yourself at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Delete my account. For a shop owner this deletes the shop and all its records — stock, bills, khata, staff — from our servers and from the phone, and the shop's printed QR code stops working. For an employee it deletes only their own account; the shop is not affected.
- On the web: verify your mobile number at godukaan.in/delete-account and delete the account there, with the same result.
- By email: write to support@GoDukaan.in from the mobile number or address associated with your shop, and we will delete it within 30 days.
Uninstalling the app removes everything held on that phone but not the server copy, so please use one of the ways above as well.
Some records of payments are kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it.
Your choices
- You can withdraw your agreement to this at any time in Settings → Data and permissions. The app then stops; your stock, khata and bills are not deleted.
- You can revoke any permission in Android's own settings, and the app will explain what stops working rather than crash.
- You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or for it to be corrected.
Children
The app is for people running a business and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who receives it, the app will show you the new disclosure and ask you to agree again before it continues.
